Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water

We lead NSW's response to climate change and help drive the transition to clean, reliable and affordable energy. We work with government, industry and communities to reduce emissions, build resilience to climate impacts and support a sustainable future.

We also protect, restore and enhance the state's natural environment, manage national parks, conserve biodiversity and safeguard heritage, including Aboriginal cultural heritage, for future generations.

We manage water resources to support healthy ecosystems, communities and industries, and deliver practical, evidence-based solutions informed by science, data and partnerships.

Aboriginal peoples' enduring connection to Country and water is central to our work. We respect and embed Aboriginal knowledge in decision-making and work in partnership with communities across NSW. We help protect and celebrate the places, objects and stories that connect us to our shared history and identity.
